Photo Tips
HH01206A.gif (1993 bytes)  If you have to shoot through a chain-link fence, you can make it magically disappear from the picture by moving right up to the fence and shooting at the lens's widest aperture so that minimal depth of field throws the fence completely out of focus.

This is most effective with longer lenses; wide-angles have enough depth of field even at wide apertures that there might still be some evidence of the fence in the photo. The farther your subject is on the other side of the fence, the better. Also, the farther the focusing distance, the more out-of-focus the fence will be.

P.S. This tip is especially useful when photographing little league games or other sports where you have to shoot through a fence.

Have fun!
